At its annual Summer Retreat July 17-19, 2007, Sheila Middleton, Vice President of Operations for Opaa! Food Management, announced Millie Norman, Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Hamilton R-II School District, as the recipient of the 2006-07 Director of the Year award. Company officials selected Millie as Director of the Year from among all of Opaa!'s Directors' of Nutrition Services across the state of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of creative marketing, employee training, employee safety, fiscal performance, and student and adult participation.
Millie has been an Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services at the Hamilton R-II School District for the past five years and with her husband George, they have two children (Linda and George, Jr) and two grandchildren. Millie says she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, loves gardening, reading and crafts.
In making the announcement, Middleton described Millie as a longtime District Foodservice Director that came on board when Opaa! contracted the account in January 2003 and is always willing to pitch in to do what is right for Opaa! and the district. Middleton went on to say, that Millie is also the recipient of multiple other awards such as; the Spirit Award, she is a two time President's Circle winner, and Director of the Year award, which this is the first time she has won this award and that Millie said "It's Great."
As Director of Nutrition Services, Millie supervises nine employees in the Hamilton R-II School District. Millie said, "This has always been my dream to be selected for this award and that being from a small school I didn't think I could ever reach my dream but I did and 'It's FANTASTIC' and still is." She went on to say, "Giving it a100% everyday and being there for the staff is so important plus going the extra mile and it's just the overall quality that can make this happen to anyone".
Opaa! Food Management, Inc., is based in Chesterfield, Missouri, and is entering its 29th year of operation. Opaa! currently operates the nutrition programs for 61 Missouri school districts and has been serving the nutritional requirements of the Hamilton R-II School District since 2003.
