At its annual Summer Retreat July 29-31, 2003, Opaa! Food Management announced Lou Judd, Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Aurora R-VIII School District as the recipient of the New Director of the Year award. Lou was selected by company officials as New Director of the Year from among Opaa!'s New Directors' of Nutrition Services across the state of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of creative marketing, employee training, employee safety, fiscal performance, and student and adult participation.

Lou has been an Opaa! food service employee since 1999 and Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Aurora R-VIII School District for the past school year. Lou and her husband Frank are residents of Aurora and have three children, Linda Vaughn of Bakersville, Mo., Mike Bennett of Aurora, and Robert Bennett of Aurora. Lou and Frank have 4 grandsons and one granddaughter. In her spare time, Lou says that she enjoys working outside in her flowerbeds and the occasional horseback ride.

Lou supervises four serving sites in the Aurora R-VIII School District. Following the presentation, Lou said, "the award came as a total shock. You don't win anything on your own…I have a great team and this award is really the result of really good people working together for a common goal."
