Bonnie Timmerberg as Opaa!'s Marketing Award Winner 2007
At its annual Summer Retreat July 17-19, 2007, Shelia Middleton, Vice President of Operations for Opaa! Food Management, announced Bonnie Timmerberg, Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Odessa R-VII School District as the recipient of the 2006-07 Marketing Award. Bonnie was selected by company officials as the Marketing Award Winner from among Opaa!'s Directors' of Nutrition Services across the state of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of creative marketing, employee training, employee safety, fiscal performance, and student and adult participation.
Bonnie has been employed in the Odessa School District for the past 28 years and the last 13 have been with Opaa! Food Management. Bonnie began her employment with Opaa! as a cook and went on to become a Kitchen Manager, then moved into the role as an Assistant to the Director and now as a Director of Nutrition Services for the Odessa R-VIII School District where she supervises 30 employees.
Bonnie and her husband Doug are residents of Odessa. Their children are Lisa and Brady. Lisa is employed at the Oak Grove School District as an administrative assistant to the food services and has four children; Brady resides in Kansas City and is employed at KU Medical Center where him and his wife, Heather, are expecting their first child in December. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with their grandchildren and the family.
In presenting the award, Middleton recalled how hard Bonnie has worked from the very first day of school to achieve her goals and that she has been a long time Director with Opaa!. Middleton talked about how Bonnie has previously won this award and how she is playing a very positive role as the leader in her district. She went on to say, Bonnie demonstrates every month her commitment to the importance of having marketing events to sell our programs and services. Bonnie has held events from Muffin for Mom/Donuts for Dad to having "Cook-Out" meals at most her school buildings. Bonnie also understands the importance of involving teachers and principals in these special events.
Bonnie said, "Anytime you win an award your self confidence goes up which let's you know how much the Company appreciates what you are doing. It's my job, but I like doing it anyway". Bonnie also continued by saying, "this award was a team effort which includes Opaa! staff as well as a great district that gives us the opportunity to be able to plan events which are fun for students and staff."
Opaa! Food Management, Inc., is based in Chesterfield, Missouri, and is entering its 29th year of operation. Opaa! currently operates the nutrition programs for 61 Missouri school districts and has been serving the nutritional requirements of the Odessa R-VII School District for the past thirteen years.
