At its annual Summer Retreat July 17-19, 2007, Shelia Middleton, Vice President of Operations for Opaa! Food Management, announced Vicki Beck, Opaa!'s Director of Nutrition Services for the Brentwood School District as the recipient of the 2006-07 New Director of the Year award. Vicki was selected by company officials as New Director of the Year from among Opaa!'s New Directors' of Nutrition Services across the state of Missouri. The criteria for selection included top ranking in the categories of creative marketing, employee training, employee safety, fiscal performance, and student and adult participation.

Vicki has been in the Brentwood School District for eighteen years, an Opaa! employee for eleven years, a Kitchen Manager for eight years and Director of Nutrition Services for the past school year.

Vicki and her husband Jim have been married for 31 years and have four children; Jamie a shift manger at St. Louis Bread Company; Melissa is an interior designer for an architectural firm; Brian who is in his second year as a law student at Washington University; and Angie who is attending cosmetology school and will graduate in January 2008 and has identical 3 year old twin girls, Kaliah and Camile . Vicki enjoys going out to dinner on weekends, spending time with family and friends, watching the twins, taking walks, reading a good book and swimming.

In presenting the award, Middleton stated Vicki had worked in the district for several years as a kitchen manager before deciding to interview for the Director position last year and that she worked on her goals from the very beginning. Middleton went on to say, Vicki is very accurate with reports that she submits to her RDO in a timely manner and that she has also achieved President's Circle status in her first year as the Brentwood School District Director.

Vicki supervises twelve employees, as Vicki says, "Are Awesome Ladies" in the serving sites at the Brentwood School District. Vicki said, "I was shocked about winning this award." She continued by saying, "The school has gone through a lot of positive changes since I was appointed as the Director. The District is more open, inviting, and the staff is happier along with the kids and guests. It is more inviting and there seems to be more satisfied people. We make the difference and do it for the kids." She ended by saying, "I look forward to continued success in the district with nutritional and educational strides to better our food service program for everyone."

Opaa! Food Management, Inc., is based in Chesterfield, Missouri, and is entering its 29th year of operation. Opaa! currently operates the nutrition programs for 61 Missouri school districts and has been serving the nutritional requirements of the Brentwood School District since 1996.
