Each month we will be featuring those unique and special recipes from members of the Opaa! Food Management News family that are requested over and over because they are so delicious. Ultimately, we will be featuring a collection of these recipes in our first "OPAA! Family Cookbook".

Opaa! Fresh Apple Cake with Butter Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 Cups peeled apples thinly sliced
- 2 Cups Sugar
Stir together
Sift Together:
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
Stir well and add to apple and sugar mixture
In a large bowl stir just to blend:
- 2 Eggs
- ¾ Cup Vegetable Oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Add to dry ingredients
- Fold in 1 cup pecan pieces
Place in lightly greased cake pan (9x13 pan) and bake at 325 degrees for approx 35 -40 minutes. Test cake by inserting a toothpick into the center of pan, When cake is done remove from oven and allow to cool before topping with the Butter Cream Sauce.
Butter Cream Sauce
- 1 Cup Sugar
- ½ Cup Butter - Do Not Substitute
- ½ C. Evaporated Milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Bring all ingredients to a boil and cook 3 minutes.
Poor sauce over cooled cake, top with whipped cream - Delicious!!!
